On June 21, 2024, the first “International Arbitration” special topic of the Tianjin Foreign Law School Alumni Homecoming and Series of Academic Salon Activities co-organized by the School of Law of Tianjin University and the Tianjin Lawyers Association was successfully held at the Weijin Road Campus of Tianjin University.

Lawyer Wang Jingzhan, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Tianjin Lawyers Association and arbitrator of the Tianjin Arbitration Commission, was invited to attend the meeting.

Deputy Director Tang Yu of the Tianjin Arbitration Commission said that the Tianjin Arbitration Commission has gone through a 30-year development process on the track of standardization and specialization, and has formed business characteristics with strong commercial nature of case types, strong professionalism of procedural participants, and high mediation rate of case settlement methods, which has effectively promoted the improvement of the credibility and influence of Tianjin arbitration. In recent years, under the leadership of the municipal party committee and municipal government, with the strong support of judicial administrative systems at all levels, academic forces represented by the School of Law of Tianjin University, and the majority of foreign-related lawyers, the Tianjin Arbitration Commission has continuously deepened cooperation and exchanges, expanded the strength of Tianjin’s foreign-related arbitration work, and strived to contribute to the construction of an international, legal, and market-oriented business environment in Tianjin.
In the keynote speech session of this event, Bai Xianyue, arbitrator of Tianjin Arbitration Commission and managing partner of Grandall Law Firm (Tianjin), made a keynote speech on “Pre-trial Procedures in International Arbitration”, Chen Jian, arbitrator of Tianjin Arbitration Commission and deputy secretary-general of Shanghai Arbitration Commission, made a report on “The Intrinsic Logic and Possible Evolution of International Arbitration Procedure Technology”, and Sun Shuyu, director of the Financial Arbitration Center of Tianjin Arbitration Commission, gave a speech on “The Role of Foreign-related Lawyers in my country’s International Commercial Arbitration Institutions”.
Taking the “Alumni Homecoming” of Tianjin Foreign-related Lawyers College as an opportunity, this event built a new platform for communication and interaction between Tianjin Arbitration Commission and our city’s foreign-related lawyers industry, bar associations, and law schools of universities, further helping Tianjin Arbitration Commission’s foreign-related arbitration work to go deeper and more practical.
