China to Join the Convention on Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents

On March 8th, 2023, China Embassador in Netherlands, Tanjian representing China, formally submit the delcaration of joining the Convention on Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation of Foreign Public Documents which marks that China formally join the Convetion. The Convention will take effect in China since November 2023. The primary purpose of the convention is to simplify the transmit procedure and faciliate intenational business, trade and people’s back and forth. To join the convention is a great meansure taken by China to expand the openness in the field of transmitting foreign related documents.

There are two benefits:

one is to reduce the time and cost of document transmit.To normal citizens, it means that it’s easier for them to have healthy certificate, driving license certificate, family household certificate and etc.

Another one is to optimize the environment of business. After joining the convention, foreign companies tending to make investment and import goods into China don’t need to do consular authentication any more. More than 70% of export business may benefit in the aspect of related commerical papers.
